replace bt hub with own router

First of all we need to know what broadband service you have, full fibre (FTTP), VDSL (FTTC) or G.Fast. Perhaps authentication is possible both ways, and username/password is the fallback option. Also have setup Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1) on the router without any dramas. This router does not allow me to split the bands in to two separate networks, meaning I've had to disable 5ghz for some of the older tech I have to work.. Couple of suggestions, the Asus AX86U has lots of controls for QoS including Merlin support. BT has a second more powerful router available. Wi-Fi that just works.
